Home \\ How It Works \\ The Battery

Live Tire uses the very best battery that is commercially available.
The Technical requirements of the battery in a TPMS system are complex and depending on the application, the electrical and mechanical requirements can differ widely from each other.

  • The Live Tire battery will work for up to 8 years inside the wheel, best in the industry.
  • The load profile typically consists of a small (or no) background current and a pulse current in the vicinity up to 10MA and 5 – 10MS duration. Shock, vibration and the centrifugal forces inside a tire can be very demanding on the battery.
  • The extreme hot/cold temperature ranges inside of a tire will limit the range of the lithium battery system performance. The load profiles can vary depending on the application, but the temperature profile is very demanding, regardless of the application.
  • The standard temperature range for our automotive applications is - 40°C to 125°C.  (- 40°F to 255°F) this can be exceeded for short periods up to 150°C (300°F)
